Located on the Island’s west end, this hidden gem is the stuff of outdoor lover’s dreams.  Two Harbors has a variety of activities that will get you back to nature.

Day 1

Head on over to the to the rustic town of Two Harbors on the 2:55pm departure from San Pedro. The trip takes about an hour and 15 minutes, so sit back and enjoy our famous Bloody Mary to start your trip out right.

The main type of accommodation on Catalina Island is camping. Two Harbors has wonderful beachside sites where you can wake up to the sound of the crashing waves. When you arrive check in to your camp site. For a nominal fee, your gear will be taken to your site.  You can even order food and other essentials from the Harbor Reef that can be delivered to your camp site.

For those not in the mood to camp, the Banning House Lodge is a great alternative. Surrounded by palm trees on a hill above Two Harbors, Banning House Lodge has been artfully restored and transformed into a charming Craftsman-style bed and breakfast, offering sweeping views of the Isthmus and Catalina Harbor. They provide you with a bottle wine and cheese plate on your arrival date and a complimentary continental breakfast.

Day 2

Start your day with a kayak adventure exploring Catalina Island’s many coves. Kayak rentals are available at the Dive & Recreation Center. If you want slip in to the water and explore Catalina’s underwater world, snorkel and dive gear can be rented at the Dive & Recreation Center as well. Make sure to pick up your free hiking permit at the Two Harbor’s Visitor’s Center for the next day’s activity.

After a long day on the water how about a delicious meal at the Harbor Reef Restaurant.  Enjoy a hearty selection of appetizers, salads, burgers, steaks, ribs and chicken. They also feature daily specials, including line-caught local swordfish during the summer months.

Day 3

On your last day, start the day early with a morning hike to catch the sunrise. Check out all the natural beauty Catalina has to offer. You may even spot a herd of bison or a Catalina Island Fox.

Relax by renting your own private palapa right on the beach and get some well-deserved rest from your hike. These are great for groups or couples. Order food from Harbor Sands and try the famous Buffalo Milk cocktail that originated in Two Harbors more than 40 years ago.

After enjoying some sun and sand, it’s time to pack up and return back to the mainland. The afternoon boat leaves Two Harbors at 4:45pm. The gear haul service is available to bring your things right to the pier from your campsite.
