Calling all golf fanatics! Whether you are a pro-golfer or just getting started, Catalina Island has a breath-taking course that offers sweeping ocean views and charming hillsides.Golfer swings club on lush green course surrounded by trees and hills.

Catalina Island Golf Course

Tee off in paradise on the oldest operating golf course west of the Mississippi. The Catalina Island Golf Course was originally built as a modest three-hole course in 1892. In the early 1900s, the course quickly expanded to nine-holes with increasing interest in the game from both locals and visitors.

The Catalina Island Golf Course became a premier destination for golf enthusiasts by 1929 when it transformed into an 18-hole course. Overtime it went back to a nine-hole course and to this day remains as nine challenging holes, with two sets of tees for an 18-hole game. The course features a combination of five Par 4s and four Par 3s.

The course is known for its distinct design that is built through a narrow canyon and stretches toward Avalon’s coast, offering stunning views of the Bay and Catalina Casino. This layout is a strategic test for golfers with its small greens and deep bunkers. Facilities also include a driving net and a small putting green for a full practice regimen.

The annual Catalina Island Junior Golf Tournament has been sponsored by the Avalon Men’s Golf Club since 1967. Famous golfers who once played in the Junior Golf Tournament at the Catalina Island Golf Course include Craig Stadler, Corey Pavin and Tiger Woods.Young girl playing mini golf while two adults watch in a sunny park setting.

For a more laid-back golfing experience, Golf Gardens Mini Golf is the perfect activity for the whole family. It features a unique 18-hole course nestled in a picturesque garden setting, just steps away from the beach. It’s been loved by visitors and locals for nearly 50 years.

Golf Gardens Mini Golf is open every day throughout the year. They even offer glow in the dark mini golf from 8pm to 10pm for a more enchanting round of golf. It’s a whole hour of fun and is great for creating unforgettable memories on Catalina Island.
